Early rockers on 3.2
I am building a 3.2 engine with a DC 21 (sport 964) camshaft.
I have a set of early rockers. Does it make sense to use a early rockers with this camshaft? ![]() |

Try not, Do or Do not

The early forged rocker offers a slightly better rocker ratio with the possible down-side of catastrophic failure on over-rev.
These early rocker are lighter but reconditioning the chrome pad is expensive. When we recondition these rockers we change the bushing to a DP-4, lightly surface the chrome pad and dry-film coat it to reduce contact and rotational friction.

I was told the early rockers handles the high RPM better, although the maximum rpm will be 7300 with the DC 21 (sport 964) camshaft.
The chrome pads look good. |

That the early forged rockers are stronger is true.
What Henry is saying is that if you miss a shift and overrev the engine, when the valves float and the pistons hit them, the later rockers will break first, often saving you from tearing down the engine to replace bent valves. |
