Long block weight?
Gents,
Any idea how much a 911 long block weights? Im thinking ~200 lbs. How would you package? Strapped on a pallet ? Who would you use to ship? ????? Thanks, Dave

Our Mr. Verburg posted this summary some time ago. I don't think the weights changed much:

Strap to a pallet. Better to build a box around it too. LTL carrier.

Thanks for the comments.
Are there companies that specialize in shipping engines?

I use a rep at freightquote. He has shipped at least a dozen engines for me and more for my friends. Great job every time. I have no financial or personal affiliation but pm me if you want his contact info. mark

If you are shipping it to sell , ratchet strap loose to a pallet whilst you take measurements for wooden supports underneath engine .
Once it’s supported and snug , do the same by building a wooden frame over the top . Then box it . This can be s raps of wood from construction buddies or Home Depot etc to keep costs down . If you are shipping it to be worked on elsewhere then returned , either design everything to be reusable and easy to reinstall correctly , or even buy a used flight case and build a support system into that . |
