More updates...
Gauges from John Bell look so good I'm afraid to unwrap them! No clock as going with the obnoxious oil pressure light ![]() Also got a few pieces gold cad plated, turned out great! I prefer it to zinc if there's a professional shop around that can do it - getting rare these days... ![]() ![]() |

Deleting bumperettes and flares going on - fitment is exactly what I wanted with the wheels. A small drop and should be good to go.

Nice Build…
I have a similar build pending time to get to it, please let us know how the engine and short geared 915 work together.
I am particularly interested in the 915, I kept 1st stock since it’s low enough and went with 15:30 (2.00) 2nd, 21:31 (1.476) 3rd, 24:27 (1.125) 4th and 28.24 (.857) 5th. I was worried about high rpm’s on the Highway in 5th, so I kept 5th close to stock. |

A few bits and bobs trickled in so couldn't help but mock them up. Really liking the smoked rain hats, light too!

I built my 1971 911S that weighs 2000lbs with a 1976 2.7 mag case to a 2.8 with J&E 92mm pistons 9:5.1 With a mod S cam and 46mm PMOs with ported heads. RSR headers and 997 GT3 muffler. Had my gauges also done by John Bell. 7:31 R&P. Very quick! Car weighs 2000 lbs.Haven't had it dyno yet, but expected to hit 250hp. Good luck with build.

![]() Definitely reducing some weight. HVAC, rear seat delete, lightweight ST style front seats, sunroof delete etc. Hope to be around the same weight as yours all said and done. |

Save $3500 - replate your cylinders and use JE pistons

In other news, tackled my floor sound deadening yesterday - wasn't too bad with a hot air gun and a sharp chisel. Came off clean and thankfully no rust! Removed the interior firewall sound pad as well, that thing is heavy... |

Ok first minor snag hoping I can get some clarification from those who have walked in these shoes before...
While mocking up the Guard LSD, found out I will need longer ring gear bolts. Gave Matt from Guard a call and confirmed there is a specific LSD bolt set I can buy from Porsche but he couldn't remember the exact part number and silly me I forgot to write down the number he thought it could be. Looks like the ideal length would be around 25mm but I can't find any Porsche ring gear bolts that are 12x25mm long. The closest I could find is 928 332 276 03 which is 12x21mm - would that work for a '77 915? Stock bolts are 16mm and far too short. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/92833227603.htm?pn=928-332-276-03-OEM Some pics of a stock bolt mocked up to the guard unit, any guidance is appreciated! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
