Looking for great sounding 2/1 muffler
Hi all,
Looking for a great sounding 2 in 1 out muffler for my 914-6. I have a 3.2 with FI and don't want it to be too loud but also not too quiet. Let me know your thoughts please. Thank you, Michael ![]()

It Depends.....and you really need to hear it, in person, ride in a similar car
Muffler sound varies, there are so many factors, the most significant is what you like and can/want to live with.
The most accurate/least expensive way is to attend some porsche events and listen to "similar" cars, then get a ride in the cars with sounds that you like. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT _ YOU MUST RIDE IN THE CAR TO EXPERIEMCE WHAT THE SOUND. If possible, listen from inside the car to cruise, the entire rpm range, full acceleration and the type of driving you like/want to do. Spending anywhere from $500 to a couple of thou is not a trivial expenditure, so don't listen to a clip, or take a buddy's personal opinion - you gotta listen/ride in the car to make it work. This general advice works on everything from vw to ferrari. Listen. |

Muffler Recommendation
I am happy with my Monty 3" two in, one out muffler. It is attached to SSI heat exchangers on my 2.8 MFI. I can send you a short video of it when the car was started after a long nap.

I had the stainless Dansk 2-in 1-out with a 84mm tip on my 3,2. It sounded really good, got plenty of praise on the track and still my wife would ride in the car on longer road-trips

The Dansk repops are terrible -- raspy, tinny, and loud. If you can find an original single-wall Leistritz, there's nothing better.

Thanks guys. Yeah, nothing beats hearing one in person and riding in the car. I will keep my ears open at the next event.

I have a M&K 2 in 1 out Sport muffler in my 911 SC.
80% Autocross/20% weekend. At events I have people always saying that this is the best sounding car on the track. Just loud enough at full throttle to make it interesting. |

I can only recommend you to look into SCART - a great little company with fantastic products. Not the cheapest though. Found a used racing super sound for my 2.4

I'll like to recommend a Borla if you have the manifolds to accomdate a one in, one out muffler. They give a very nice sound without being obnoxious and there is absolutely no drone.
I thoroughly enjoy mine and they can be purchased inexpensively. It is a great street muffler and when driving in neighbor hoods you won't be known as THAT GUY. I haven't checked but they may have a 2in, one out system. hughc |

OK, I have heard the SCART muffler on another 914-6. It sounds nice but may be a bit loud for me. I have reached out to Monty, let's see what they have to offer. Thanks guys.

I heard back from Monty - they do not have an application for a 914-6. I would imagine one could get their 911 muffler and then adjust the tailpipe to fit. But at the price point, I would want it to come as a bolt-on.
