Anyone know the torque setting for the fitting beneath the oil pressure switch?

You just want it snug. The aluminum seal ring will distort and cause an oil leak when running if you over tighten.

Matt,

What torque values did you use for oil pressure switch? Thanks.

Matt/ Jim (edited),

No wonder some people are breaking their pressure switch during installation. The Bentley Manual on page 130-4 shows only 15 ft.lb. torque. While Wayne's book says 14.7 ft.lb. Do you remember how much you torqued the thru bolts in your engine? They needed about 26 ft.lb. and they are solid steel bolts (M10). The oil pressure switch has a hollow threaded section and with a very flimsy connection to the switch body. Thanks.

Tony

Guys. I'm not talking about the switch itself. I'm referring to the fitting below the switch.

Jim,

I misread it too. I have a better excuse because I am atleast three (3) decades older than you (Jim). The torque value for the pressure switch adapter is 26 ft.lb.

Matt,

Do you have a Bentley SC manual? Look at page 130-4 and you will find the different torque values for most of the fasteners for the crankcase.

Old thread but wanted to verify something as it fits into this context -

I am about to install a new oil pressure switch and new switch adapter...

Removing the old switch and adapter was no problem BUT when I removed the old adapter I noticed a crush washer - and the new one did not come with one, or did I see one available for this project.

My question is: Has anyone installed this recently and if so did they use a crush washer??? Again not the pressure switch, which came with one, but the adapter....

Everything tells me yes, but one never knows...

Thanks in advance!

Erik

Thanks Matt-

I knew as much but I've seen strange things from the previous owner on this car...

I inspected and cleaned the old washer and reused for now. It looked okay and have ordered the new washer for the engine drop later this fall/winter.

Really appreciate it!

Erik
