7R case with 100mm spigot

Hi

Have had a 7R case for some time laying around.
It has been opened to 100mm
I guess this at a time for a 3.0 build.

What and Where can I get hold of cylinders for this ?

100mm is an unusual size, isn't it? I believe 2.7L is 97 mm, and 3.0L is 103 mm (had to google those). One thing worth considering is whether there is enough meat left on the cylinder stud threads to accommodate case savers?

Sealing the bottom of the Cylinder may also be an issue. Its hard to see from the photo.

We can make any odd ball cylinder /spigot combination and may actually have the cylinders you need in stock. We've made a few 95 mm cylinder kits for 2.7.

That said, the better option is to return the case to a more stable configuration.
IE: install an insert in the case to reduce the spigot diameter.
We just did one on a vintage racing 2.0. This modification can also facilitate a long rod configuration.

Hi Henry
I also thought the possibility to have inserts made.
Is the inserts something you can sell?
Living in Norway, so expensive to have the case shipped.

Short answer is no. The inserts are custom made for each application.

Any machinist capable of properly fitting this kind of insert should be capable of making the inserts.

Over the last 30+ years, the Porsche community has had the opportunity to watch the guys at Supertec come up with some pretty cool ideas to keep these old cars on the road.
Head studs, rockers, idler arms, 906 goodies and my favorite MFI enrichment. That little invention makes owning an MFI car far more enjoyable.
