Engine
So this is kind of cool. As Im setting the camshaft timing on this 911 engine I realize that these tools date back to Christmas of 1994. I was a sophomore in College and working on rebuilding my first engine ever in my 73 911. The car was originally a sportomatic T and had been converted to a 2.4 S engine with MFI and a 915 gearbox. All I had were basic hand tools and a Haynes repair manual. I saved up all summer and spent all my money on parts. I ran into a jam when I got to the camshafts and realized I needed $350 in special tools to go any further. Santa Delivered the goods and here I am 29 years later still using them almost to the day I got them.

That's a great story! Once a Porsche enthusiast, always a Porsche enthusiast!

Cool memory. I'm still using the Craftsman socket set that I was fixing my 240Z with in college... 40 years ago.
$350 was a lot more money then.

Buy good stuff and it will last a lifetime. I still have a few tools I inherited from my grandfather which he bought in the 1920's and '30's. Most of my Craftsman tools I bought in the mid-'70's and they are all still in good shape, though I have replaced a couple that broke. But they had a lifetime warranty and were replaced for free.
