SC distributor spring orientation
I confess that I was a taking apart my dizzy to clean and lube it (Guenther's directions), and I pulled on the rotor part enough that the springs came off the posts in the lower part of the distributor cup. So I lost the orientation of which spring goes to which post. It might not even matter, but I'm asking to be sure.

To update this thread for future searches: I also found another picture in an old thread here that showed the springs on opposite sides. Hmmm. Maybe it does not matter?
I then carefully observed the action of the springs and flyweights on the lobes of the rotor. I noted that the springs do not connect to the flyweights (as they do in some American engines). Instead the springs are connected to posts on the rotor lobes, and the flyweights act on the rotor lobes against the spring pressure on them. Therefore the location of the springs on one pair of posts or the other does not matter. They act in parallel either way.

So the clip under the felt was not installed?

What clip under the felt? There is a screw under the felt in the center of the shaft. If you mean the circlip around the shaft, yes both were there and I removed them to pull up on the shaft, which is when I popped the advance springs off the posts.
