MFI and engine cam compatibility

I read a post, ,maybe here about engine cam compatibility to MFI as in more modern cams don't work that well with MFI. Not understanding cam design, I don't know What happens with lobe contour, degrees of spread between lobes, etc that separates new tech from old tech. I have a 3.0, 12-1, slide valve, with what I understand is an old grind and it is a rocket. Also a 3.0, 11-1 with bored 2.2 mag stacks with a ''modern cam'', and it is soft, very little snap. I realize not apples to apples, but I had to tune its pump to make it work. Prior I could swap pumps from one engine to another, (both had old style cams at the time) with the tune I had performed on the bench, and no tuning required. Will appreciate any feed back on this subject. Bob

sounds like you're dealing with the nuances of camshaft compatibility, especially concerning Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) systems.
