Twin Plug Heads

Who is the “GoToo” shop to have heads machined for twin plug?
The guy who use to do our work has retired.

Anyone who rebuilds heads should be able to add the extra spark plug hole.

Cgarr (Craig Garrret) does fine work and his rates are reasonable too.

+1 for Craig

+1 for Craig.

I built a twin-plug engine and encountered these other issues:
  • decide on 12mm or 14mm spark plug holes
  • bore exhaust valve covers for lower plugs
  • open up RR chain box for #4 lower plug
  • modify LF engine tin for #3 lower plug
I went with 12mm lower spark plug holes after confirming I could get suitable spark plugs for uppers and lowers. I sent Craig the valve covers to be bored. The chain box was easily modified with a Dremel tool and the engine tin required some hammering.

If timing is important you might give Supertec a call. I believe they have a two week turn-around on head work. All machine work done in house.
A friend just got a performance 2.7 built in less than 30 days after it hit the top of the list.

Byron, I have had Bill's do 5 sets of 911 heads in the last 5 months . The customer service and product is first rate , what I am used to from the old days . The tech is also top notch , total research .

Our local guy we have been using for over 20 years, always perfect. But it is a long way for you to send heads, though with our dollar being minimal, may make sense.....

The exchange is good but shipping to CA is usually fairly pricey.

I used Anchor Atlantic here on the East/North East coast.

These are the heads Supertec did for my SS 3.2

I think Supertec is one of the few Porsche engine builders that do their own machine work in house.

Yes, you are 100% correct.

We can do a shipment to 98230 and we import them across the border. However, there are many great options inside the US, some mentioned in this thread.

Cheers

I agree. We use a top notch machine shop to rebuild our heads but one of my employees has a mill and could do the twin plug in house if he wanted to. It’s not rocket science to drill a hole on an angle and tap it for a spark plug.

Jeff Alton 01-24-2025 06:55 PM

^^^^^ exactly! Despite being reviered by many, like you said, it is not rocket science. Just simple machine work.

Cheers

Don at EBS does a great job. I've had about 5 sets done, no issues.
