Flywheel-engine
Hi, allready asked the question in the technical forum, but no answer.
Can somebody help me in finding the distance flywheel-engine case for a 2,7l engine. I m asking this while the pressure plate bolts are touching the inside transmission .when engine trans are mated. Thanks |

Flywheel bolts are 8x 42mm with lock washer.
There are high spots behind the flywheel on the case that would catch the longer bolts. Bruce |

If you look in the technical forum my PP is thicker than the normal ones, about 4 mm. Which would explain.Only I never heard about this issue.

Jimmy I just responded in the other thread. I’d measure d my pressure plate without the ring gear and you had measured with. The ring gear adds 4 mm to the stack, so I think that explains the difference.

Crank runout should be only a few thousands of an inch, so a dial indicator and a small lever.
Watch here for example https://youtu.be/uXmjIrTZC6s?si=icf-YkEVsIAUNtUi Go to the 13 minute mark. If the flywheel moves independent of the crank, that's a different problem. |

For the amount of movement you are looking to explain, no dial indicator needed (and your engine is assembled, of course). A non-metal mallet and tap like John suggested in the other thread. If this is what is causing your interference, it will need to be way more than the normal few thousands of an inch of movement. More like a few mm of movement. I'd think you'd easily feel/see that much movement, if that's the cause of your issue.
