Conrod order
Hi, I noticed an error in info I got back from a guy who has been helping with my engine… Vapour blasting etc. He took my engine to machine shop to have a once over and case savers put in. All really good up to this point…
His diagram is different to the technical specifications book. So, my question is, how do I unpick the conrod to cylinder issue, if 1 is 4… because at the moment all of my conrods are in the wrong order… Any advice.? Thanks Tim ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Are you rebuilding the engine? If so, you'll probably want to have the con rods and pistons balanced separately, in which case it will not matter which con rod goes where....

Do the numbers on the second sheet so Rod 1 = 242 correspond to the number on the rod themselves? On the bearing caps?

Keep in mind, if you decide to have the rods balanced, 9 grams on either end is not reasonable. Also, the book calls for 4 grams of balance. At Supertec, our goal is .5 grams. An easy target for a professional machine shop.

You’re drawings are wrong
The 4 cyl bank is forward of #1 cyl side. Oil cooler is where #6 is pictured. When I assemble a crank I put #8 bearing to my left and assemble rods with small end towards me having the stamped numbers up. Disassembly is when I record the numbers in my drawings. Bruce |

I’m not a professional but I can tell you for sure that your drawings are wrong.

^^^ yes, ok, but the cylnder layout numbering referencing the banks is correct, even if the offset in not correct. Who cares, it is a hand drawn diagram for some reason...
