Porsche Crest Bosch Twin Plug caps and rotors

Based on a measage thread in this forum March 25th 2003, I was wondering if there is significant interest in remanufactured Bosch twin plug caps and rotors, and what would people be willing to pay to get one ? Also, would there be any copyright implications if one was going to start remanufacturing something of this nature ?? Advice, comments please......

There is already someone manufacturing these caps for Andial. I can't remember his handle, but he posts here on the board. Of course competition would make the prices more reasonable! I'm currently shopping for twin-plug ignition solution to my future upgrade.

This is a capitol idea!

There are a ton of twin-plug vintage cars who could benefit from this, simply because the other alternatives are not period correct. If you could get the price down to (or under) the cost of other twin-plug solutions (Electromotive, modified 964 setups) which typically run $1500 or more, I think you'd be in good shape.

I would have purchased this over the other solutions if it were available to me.

Chris:

Indeed, these caps and rotors are available once again. Not cheap but, available.

I've got as many as you want,...

Everyone talks only about the caps and rotors. Does this mean they work with a standard early distributor?

Steve, what's your idea of "not cheap"?

Steve,

I'd also like to know... Are those available for standard distributor setups, or are they using a 'special' dizzy? If stock, does the distributor require modification?

Chris,
According to the BA book you can have your SC distributor converted to take a twin plug rotor and cap

The Bosch RSR caps and rotors were specifically made for the larger Bosch, 917, RSR, and 935 distributors.

We convert late model Bosch breakerless distributors with a special billet plate to accept the RSR cap and modify the shaft to accept the RSR rotor.

You may contact me directly for pricing.

Steve, or anyone else, can these 12 plug caps and rotors be used with a stock Carrera 3.2 dizzy? If so, what is involved in the conversion?

I would prefer a single distributor over the twin 964 style.

Roamer:

Your Carrera distributor can be used for this conversion. Depending on what engine management you use, you might need an SC dizzy for a donor.

The Carrera one has no trigger assembly inside and that needs to be added when not using crank position timing.

Gotcha, thanks Steve. I am still trying to figure out my engine management solution so I will reach out to you when I do.

Thanks again.
