THANKS GUYS! this site appears to be winding down, and all of you (Steve f, Dave, Sherwood, Jown w, PBH, Tim) have given some very informative advice. This thread scares me. I just purchased a sight unseen 2.4S long block. Any ideas on what I should insist on testing prior to accepting?

is this a core motor or something you plan to run right away (no rebuild)

I don't think I would worry about a 2.4 as much as I would worry about a 2.7....
