Engine case split last night

Hi everyone, Thanks to this board and Wayne's book(s) I finished the disassembly stage of my rebuild last night. (See my chest puffed out?)

I have never worked on an engine before, but found it to be gratifying to get my hands dirty and get to know my car in a whole new way! Thanks for giving me the confidence. Decided to go for the entire enchalada once I went so far.

Car is a long way from being done, but I am taking parts to machine shop today. I will keep you updated as things progress. I plan on keeping the engine basically stock 2.4 MFI from my 911 T except for the tensioner upgrades.

Thanks again and I can't wait to drive her!

MUHAHAA there is no such thing as a "stock" rebuild on a 2.4T. better watch out for "while you're in there" I had planned on a stock 2.4T rebuild but now I"m up to 10:1 compression with JE's and early E cams.

welcome to the rebuild club.

Yes I thought alot about even using those words "stock rebuild". I think the knowledge gained from taking her apart will help me tremedously in the ownership of her. Car is undergoing a complete save. Entire new floor pan, gas tank, front end unibody frame arms, gas tank support, rear crossmember, new fenders, rockers, door jams, basically total rebuild so I thought what the heck on the engine right?

Ahh yes, a '72 targa. What a fine automobile you have...as you can guess, I'm biased.

Yes that funny gas door on the rear quarter kinda quirky kinda different in a word "Special". I will be posting some photos of the car and work in the near future. Have had a slight problem posting photos in the past as they seem to be too large?
