I have just realized I installed the cam tower without the damn washers,..I used NON-Nylon self locking nuts,.Is this going to be a problem in the fututre or do I need to pull every thing and install the washer's...TIA Frank

Probably a bigger issue is the stud tension you achieved with the prevailing torque self locking nuts. How do you know the torque used up in the thread friction (including loading/deforming the self locking features) versus the torque used to tension the stud? The torque values given for the OEM configuration (which as I recall did not have prevailing torque self locking nuts) were worked out to produce a stud tension within certain tolerances. Likely a good idea to start over with the correct hardware versus incorrect stud tension and possible future leaks. Jim

If the engine is still out of the car it's a no brainer, I'd replace the fasteners with wavey washers and normal nuts. Definetly put wavey washers under the barrel nuts.
I don't think the torque on those studs is that critical but not having washers is going to increase the friction a lot thus reducing the tension on the studs. Does the cam turn freely? -Chris

While Jim is technically right, I also agree with Chris - the torque on these studs is not super-critical for the operation of the engine (as long as they don't strip or fall off).
