Intake manifold studs
One quick question just to be safe,
I am installing the intake manifold studs into the heads. What should I use to do this? Locktite Red? Blue? something else? It probably doesn't make a difference but, this is on a 87 930, so the studs are fairly long ~ 6". Wayne, this is one of the few things that I could not find in your excellent book.

I wouldn't put Loctite on them but that's just me.

Here I am agreeing with Chris again, but that is a good thing. If anything I would just put some anti-sieze on them.

No locktite? None of the studs backed out when I removed the intake manifold, so I assumed Porsche used some sort of thread lock on them? CE removed them, so I don't know what kind of effort it took to get them out.

![]() As a data point, Raceware head studs specifically state not to use Loctite on them. -Chris

I don't think you need any Loctite - it's not like you're going to be taking your manifold on and off many times in the future...
