Fishcop,
I have jst gone through this whole decision process.3.6 too expensive in Oz. Turbo and too expensive for the gains. I ahve just decided, and ordered form host. SSI's, JE10.5:1, GE60 cams and from Monty a 4" single out. I will then use an Autronics ECU. Although the setup will still cost $8k AUD it is still less than a turbo or 3.6 conversion. Cheers Mark..... |

Yep, that's the result/reasoning I came up with also. The later (3.0 or 3.2) engines for me either needed work or additional harnesses/tinware etc... not to mention gearbox compatability. So I went with a tired and cheap 2.7 and spent $ big. Overall cost of about $10k but I know what is there and hopefully no surprises! Plus there is an element of "period correctness" for my car
![]() Watchout for the import duties and taxes... they are what has put me off.

FYI
Turbo chargering a 3.0 cost breakdown, of course you can go further with this modification but this fabrication works and has worked well for 20 years on many of these cars, for the minimal expense the performance gains are impressive. Used bae turbo kit 1500 ( can be had for less but are hard to find bought mine from a guy in Hawaii) Rebuild turbo 450 Tial Bov 220 Tial 38mm Wastegate 220 Turbo x boost controller 80 MSD BTM ignition 350 911 SC CSV injector with fuel line 130 Hobbs NO 4lbs pressure switch 30 Assorted flanges, gaskets and SS pipe for crossover pipe 120 Silicone intake and vacuum hoses and elbows 120 Tilton oil pump 200 Assorted fittings and hoses 80 Westberg A/r gauge 40 VDO boost gauge and line 60 Flow master muffler 140 Total = 3750

You really need a complete 3.3T engine to reduce costs. I've done that swap in my '78 and couldn't be happier with it. The 915 sux but that's normal for them. Many ancillary hoses and parts needed. It adds up. If you rebuild and turbo your 3.0L you may be money, fab time, and headaches ahead.

I'm planning to run the Autronic ECU on my 930. With any luck I'll be setting it up in September. Maybe we can start an Autronic post as we sort things out.
