				identifying a cylinder

I have a set of cylinders I am trying to identify. They are non-magnetic and have the stamp you can see in this picture. I was hoping they are Nikasils but I am afraid they are Kolbenschmidt Alusils. Are my fears justified?

Do you know what size they are? Do you have a better pic showing more of the outside of the complete cylinder? The magnet test is for the inner cylinder wall. Dont get too nervous yet. My 98mm Nikasils look just like 95mm Alusils externally. I didnt know what they were until I pulled the heads and posted pictures here | ||

				another pic

Sherman, They are from a 3.0L SC. I did the magnet test inside the cylinder wall... no pull on the magnet. Here is another shot of the same cylinder.

				another try?

Henry, or anyone else. Is it possible that these cylinders have been Nikasil coated? There is some opinion that you can tell Nikasil from Alusil by sight when looking down the barrel of the cylinders, as in these two pics. Can they be Nikasils even if they are non-magnetic? And can you make a determinatin by looking closely at the inside of the cylinder?

They look like alusil. if you use a strong magnet and get no pull, they ain't nikasil.

Looks too dull to be replated nikasil, but don't ask me. Here is a picture of some slighly used replated Nikosil KS jugs for reference: Good luck, JP
