Engine Dowel Pins

Can anyone tell me where I can get replacement plugs for the engine case halves. The ones that needs to be JB welded when preparing the case. I sent the case halves to be cleaned and the machine shop removed them for cleaning the oil passages. What do I ask for when I order these.

Thanks Mike.

I've had a machine shop put in threaded plugs once but the other times I've had the plugs made. I am not aware of a source for off the shelf plugs for this application. The last time I needed plugs I had a machinist make 14 for $70 from $20 worth of aluminum stock I supplied. I still have some left if you are really stuck.

Chris,

They seem to be different sizes. They are the ones mentioned on page 126 of the rebuild book. I spoke to the guy at the machine shop today he said he removed quite a few of them.....My question is Are there any of those inside the case? I am really stuck I need them. Let me know how nuch and I will take care of it.

Thanks Mike.

Except for the largest plugs in the oil oil gallery across the top of the motor I'm not sure that you need to remove the other plugs. The gallery I'm talking about goes front to back along the top right side of the case.

I had a case prepped by a machine shop once and they removed every plug and put in threaded plugs. I seem to remember that the smaller plugs all lead to places I could get to without removing the plugs.

Since your machinist has already removed them you'll need to have new plugs made. I would "stake" the edge of the large gallery plugs as extra insurance.

WE TAP THE HOLES AND INSTALL TAPERED PIPE PLUGS.
It's a safe, easy repair that can be performed without any special tools. They are also easily removed for future cleaning.

The threaded plugs my machinist used needed to have extra machining done to them.
