Head Studs, how to be sure??
Is there a test methode to see if the studs are not slowly pulling out?
I thought like this: put a strong small pipe over the head stud, washer and head nut - and apply torque. So how much can I go? The studs look fine right now but when I disassembled the engine the head nuts where all diffferently and not so tight. Thanks, harold

If it's a magnesium 2.7 case, then they are pulling. 99.9%

no so tight head nuts is probably what caused the base gaskets to get squeezed out.

Wayne I think you and John are saying the same thing. And I agree that the loose head studs caused the damage to the base gaskets.
