do i need to flame ring?
when is flame ringing required? im looking to run(on my 3.3 turbo engine) 8-1 comp, 1 bar, 964 cams, twin plug carrera heads, arp rod bolts, supertec studs, sds efi, headers and a k27 high flow, is it needed?

It is not necessary at that boost level, but it is insurance and much cheaper to do it now in case you decide to put a larger turbo on it and or more boost. I have a guy who can do it for you if you go that route. Price is 4-450 including the rings.

cheers Eric but, although my heads are in the states, they will be sent to the uk shortly. and my cylinders are already in the uk so i would need someone over my side to carry the work out. thanks for the offer anyway-im getting closer and closer to putting your old JE's in!

You will find with the SUPERTEC head studs that the heads will have far less tendency to lift [separate from the cylinders] and the flame rings are designed to hold compression when the heads lift. If you plan to make less than 500 hp I would say no flame rings are necessary.
That said , for us flame rings are cheap insurance. For you the cost might make flame rings impractical.
