Hello

I'm just rebuilding my 3.0sc 204hp -82 cis motor and wondering if i put 964 cam shaft in, can i juts do it whit out
eny modifigations? Like some for pistons?

Yes you can. Makes a nice improvement.

I put the 964 cams in a 78sc and it moved the power band up. Alittle bit of a pain to drive in traffic but when you keep the rpms up its a blast.

Reason why they didn't help Crashym911's low RPM band is the fact that he put them in a low compression 78 3.0 as we have them here in the US.

In the later US 3.0 with the higher compression, the 964 grind does much better: It increases driveability in the low rpm range, not take away from it.

So, on the Finnish 3.0, they should work great, with the Euro compression! Contact "camgrinder" on this board. He can hook you up with specs and regrinding your existing cams. I think he does international work too.

Ok then there is no problem put those in the engine! No tight
clearense valve to piston! (that they are too close and you have to machine your pistons)
Yes i have contact Dr camshaft and yes he told what he have and what he can do. But here in Finland some says that
there is problem to valve and piston spase is too near or even they will tats.

Jopi:

John would know if the euro pistons are significantly different and there were clearance problems. The cams do not have that much different specs, e.g. lift than the SC cams.

Of course, once you put your cams in, make sure you test for piston to valve clearance. You can find the procedure in Wanye's book. Since you assume no problems, I would go with the quick and dirty check as it is indicated in a few sentences the end of the valve to piston clearance chapter.

I had no problem putting them in my engine when I did a top end rebuild. Just take your time and don't rush anything. Cam timming should be done with some one who has done it before atleast once when you first do it. I had some one looking over my shoulder. Thank God for the pca!
