screwed up!

I stated in my post requesting 3.3 turbo rod bolt diameter information, that Wayne's book called out 10mm rod bolt diameter and doesn't specify turbo.( I just went to Appendix A assuming the info would be there) However, if I had read further in his book I would have found that he does address 3.3 tubo rod bolt diameter(9mm) on page 82!... In fact, he advises aftermarket replacement instead of OEM and explains why. (I received the same advice from the Porsche Tech thats helping me)....... learned another lesson...READ!

Ken, I must have read through Wayne's book 3 times before I actually started my rebuild. Still missed a few things though (like forgetting to transfer the starter ring from the old pressure plate to the new!)

Oh wow, when did you figure out you didn't have a starter ring, when you hit the ignition key???

I'm going to hit the book one more time. Thanks!

Oh no I am much to dense to figure it out that quickly. I pulled and replaced the starter THREE times figuring it had to be a starter/solenoid problem before I figured out it was the starter ring! On the other hand I can pull an engine pretty quick now. Having had plenty of practice.

Most people see it sitting on their bench when they are standing there staring at the car, trying to figure out why it won't start...

There are very, very few things that are not covered in the book...
