VIN Number

I recently bought a used 1987 911. The vin number on the plate of my window frame matches the vin number on the inside of my door frame. The little stickers (that I thought were supposed to be the vin number) on my hood, trunk and 2 doors all have matching numbers however, they are a little bit off from the vin number on the door frame.

Someone told me that they should all match and that if they don't that means that the doors and hood and trunk were probably replaced - is this true?

Thanks,
Andy

Could be chassis numbers - especially if the last set of numbers is the same as your VIN, but the number begins with WP0ZZZ, rather than what your VIN starts with.
