Oil Cooler Leak
Hi
After 5K post rebuild my 2.4 has developed a leak between the case and the oil cooler, I used curil-t on the 'o' rings but this obviously hasn't sealed. Any suggestions (re re sealing it) Thanks Neven |

The Curit T on the O-rings probably isn't helping things. Are you sure it is the oil cooler seals that are leaking? I've just never seen a leaking oil cooler seal. I probably just haven't worked on enough motors though.

My oil cooler leaked the first time using curil-t on new seals, the second time installed seals clean and dry and it has not had problems. ( get new seals, once they are compressed once they won't seal again properly)

No I took it out. It is difficult to get the oil cooler off in the car (but not impossible)

I am gonna be a butt and bet it is not your cooler but a sender up an top by the thermistat.

Even new idiot light switches can leak, ask me how I know! I now JB weld the red plastic part of the switch to the metal part on new switches to help prevent leaks there. Never had one leak doing it that way, but then again, I only saw one new one leak too! As for the oil cooler seals, do not put anything on them, they will work better installed dry. And Chris, you probably HAVE worked on enough engines!!
