Help - Cam Nut Torque During Dry Piston to Valve Clearance Check

I am in the process of doing the dry check on piston to valve clearance on my on a 3.0 SC with 10:1 RSR pistons and a GE60 cams. As this is my first 911 rebuild I am following Wayne's book very carefully.

I have just completed the cam timing and everything seemed to go well with the 5.0 mm intake timing setting for both cams. I did deviate from Wayne's recommendation to torque the cam nuts up to final torque of 110 ft-lbs. I only torqued them to around 60-70 ft-lbs based on "wrench feel".

Since I will be disassembling the heads, cam towers etc to do the final assembly with the sealants and gaskets, I did not think it was necessary to torque the cam nuts to the final value just to check the timing and clearance. I can't see how cam nut torque would effect the timing for the cams.

Can I get away with this and torque the cam nuts to their final value only once during final assembly?
