Through Bolts- Dry
Hi,
The engine is now in bits and I am well past the point of no return on the rebuild.........I did notice something that someone out there will know the answer to. When the through bolts are taken out they are covered in oil, as they would be........all except the three middle bottom ones.....completely dry? If these are oil passages.......then dry is bad? Cheers Mark....... |

Some are oil passages and some are not. I think the "wet" through bolt passages that are below the piston squirters or main bearing oil holes.

Thanks Chris I will check the passages tonight and make sure. Now thah I have the case apart I can see the main bearings.........they look fine! not too sure how to check these. Any ideas. I am going to replace them anyway but it would be good to understand what sort of life the engine has had.
Cheers Mark...... |
