Why does '84 Carrera have different plug wire #?

Some catalogs list one # for '84-'89, but most lists a different one for '84 only. The Pelican catalog lists as "OEM Ignition Wire Set, 911 Carrera (1984) 10-8533-604.

I'd kind of like to drop to the $200.00 aftermarket wires, but again, some list for '85-'89 and some from '84-'89. Any ideas? |

In '84 the 4,5,6 plug wires were routed under the intake plenum, over the middle of the shroud - more of a direct route from the distributor to the right bank of plugs.

The '85-89 wires for 4,5,6 were longer and ran over the fan housing and under the A/C bracket. -Chris

Thanks a lot. I wondered (and was hoping) if it was something like that, although mine do run over the fan shroud (4-6). Maybe it was a mid-year thing or mine isn't all '84. It does have nikasil.
