1971 911T oil overflow

I have A 1971 911T Been haveing problems with the ignition. got it running, but now oil is comming out of the oil tank at the oil fill. What could cause this? also oil temp light is flashing even when cold?

I think you are confusing several things. First drain the oil and refill while checking the level correctly, The volume of oil will expand and should be checked at while idleing at correct operating temperature. It sounds like you are a few quarts too full. Don't forget to drain the sump on the bottom of the engine. My 71T takes about 7.5 quarts to the middle of the mark when warm.

The oil pressure light on the dash (there is no temp light) is also the parking brake light. If it is blinking it is the parking brake. if it is on brightly when the brake is off you have low oil pressure. This should also be confirmed by the dash mounted gauge and/or a mechanical gauge.
