When putting the case together on a 3.0 there is a special nut on the inside of one of the chain housings. Is there suppossed to be a washer there also?

If you are talking about the 17mm nut, it requires a steel washer.

I think it takes a "wavey" lock washer doesn't it?

Can the original washer be used or does it have to be replaced as a matter of course? I noticed that the nuts in the inside of the chain boxes are steel also (the ones that aren't nylocs). Do they need to be replaced or can they be reused?

washers
new ones are preffered but if they still have a good shape (not flat) they will work, a drop of blue loc-tite works well along with it.
