930 engine drop

I am going to rebuild the 3.0 out of my 76 Turbo this winter and I was looking for any additional information that is not mentioned in "The Book"? It has a few broken studs and the oil pressure drops to around 5 when the oil warms up. I am most likely just going to keep it stock when I rebuild it as I just enjoy driving it and I am not looking for more Hp. Thanks in advance

Thanks John, it definetely needs that. Once I get it out and all apart I'll drop by with the big parts and have you check them out to see what needs to be done. I'm sure the heads will need some work.

Make sure you take plenty of digital pics of every side before every major disassembly. I don't know how many times I referred back to my photos during reassembly.

I was just looking pictures and considering some 930 R&R differences to 911 engine R&R. The pics along with labeled zip-lock gallon size bags makes stripping down to long block and re assembly paint/clean up very do-able winter project.

It will be like new given a good plan.

Good luck!

Standard steel head studs are the way to go for a "mostly stock" 930. with my 930 rebuild I had a few problems not mentioned in Waynes partly due to my inexperience.

- The rocker shafts RSR seal upgrade is a MUST and the factory torque settings for the rocker shafts is too little they tend to walk.

- Ensure you torque the intake manifold down sufficiently as mine has air leaks with the new gaskets (Can't find the torque settings in the book)

- My Gasket kit was missing a few important seals
- RSR rocker shaft seals
- Oil thermosat seal
- Carrera chain tensioner O ring seals

I used Threebond 1211 sealant to great success on the top end.
