Wrightwood Racing or Stock Gaskets?

I see that there are at least these two choices for Gaskets for my 3.6 rebuild project. However, I found very little (esssentially zero) documentation on what using the Wrightwood version of the gaskets (that is more expensive) will get me.

Any practical experience out there?

Chris

Some say the Wrightwood version is "fresher". I remember Walt@CE mentioning Wrightwood gaskets. I don't know if there is evidence or if it is just another hype. Maybe the shelf life of the rubber and silicone is limited. I ended up using a gasket set from our host and everything is fine so far after 15.000 miles on the rebuilt. I figure these sets are not stale since lots of 3.6 are getting rebuilt these days.

I don't know if the Wrightwood stuff is fresher but it is better quality from what I've seen. For example, the blue throughbolt O-rings that come with the Reinz (sp?) gasket kit are inferior to the green Viton ones from Wrightwood.
I use the Reinz gaskets and use the Wrightwood throughbolt O-rings and rocker shaft seals.

Gaskets

The Wrightwood sets are high quality viton, and that is whats more expensive than silicone, think about it a 3.6/3.8 only has 3 paper gaskets total the rest is viton or silicone and rubber

I've been using the Wrightwood sets lately for the abovementioned reasons. I've never had a problem with the originals, but because of what I've heard, and because the cost was the same... Why not?

You can get the Wrightwood gasket sets from other sources like EBS etc. They do not sell directly to the consumer. In fact Jerry Woods told us during the class that they don't even sell directly to him...he gets them through a second supplier.

I have a 993 Reinz gasket set here on my desk unopened...and am now considering returning it for the Wrightwood set given this conversation. I also forget that Jerry also recommended the Wrightwood gaskets during the course. Its an extra $160 if I remember for the set though..

Cheers,

Mike

All Wrightwood Racing products are available on our web site.

They are the best quality and they will build custom gasket sets to fit all engine requiremnts.
What I mean by the that is Rosemary will assemble your gasket set with gaskets to fit port size, barrel shims to suit deck requirements, Viton on request and so on.

All our engines are built with Wrightwood Racing gaskets and seals exclusively.

They are not available from the dealer. Pelican and other places sell them. The part # I use is 911.099.103.52. I think it is/was a factory race part number.
I tried to find a flat O-ring with the same dimesions a few years ago but I was not successful.

Wrightwood also has rocker shaft seals, although we have never seen a need for them.
