Piston/cylinder pricing and types

Finally getting it together, buying the the Mahle 98mm, 10.5 compression piston/cylinder set. Engine will be on my new Carrera case, 74.4 mm crankshaft, twin plug, 930/03 heads, S cams...efi, coil on plug etc etc

I have the prices from our esteemed hosts (Pelican) and Andial....seem pretty consistent, within $100 of each other, but just wondering if there were any places that may have significantly better prices, including Europe (will be visiting Holland for a month in September).

Default is to buy from Pelican, but for $4300, if there is an advantage in buying in Europe or anywhere else around here, then my cheap Dutch heritage requires me to at least check it out.....

Dennis

Dennis,

Have you considered the QSC nickasils/JE pistons in 98's from Henry @ Supertec? I am installing a set right now in the 9.5:1's. They are under $2500 and have been tested on the turbo engines. Henry could tell you more about them. Here is a picture of them on the engine

We will be selling these soon as well, after I have a chance to check them out. They are made in China, but the quality looks real good. Off hand, I think that Mahle is the best, hands down. As for the odd-ball kits like these big bore, higher compression ones, it's tough to find them anywhere - I doubt it would be easier or cheaper in Europe (everything seems more expensive there).

We'll match Andial's price if they are lower...

Good to see your getting these to sell. I believe the Mahle's are better but this option allowed me to upgrade to 3.4, not use my alusil PC's and to do all the things I needed to do correctly and stay within my budget.
