is it time?
Very un-inspiring video
Well, she started smoking every once in a while at stoplights a few years ago.. I knew the time would come eventually. Last Wednesday I had her out, and started doing this... (above video) as a constant. Power seemed a little bit down Wednesday too. Idle.. fine, but will hiccup and waver here and there -warm and cold. It's a 3.2, never dropped, 125,000 miles. I suppose I should do this now before I loose a valve.

When was the last time you adjusted the valves? Approx. how many miles for a quart of oil consumed?

about a quart per 500 miles, give or take.. I adjusted the valves about.. 500 miles ago.
She was relatively ok til this wednesday, that's when she started this constant smoke. I haven't done a leakdown or compression test on her. But in reality, smoke= bad.. so, should it really matter whether it's valve guides or rings? We all know that these valve guides on 3.2's are achilles' heels. And at 125k, this car has done it's fair share. To my eye when I was adjusting the valves last, I could not get ther telatale 'wiggle' that's suppose to signify worn valve guides. But I know I am leaking oil from the exhaust port on cyl3 and 4. (You can see it on the flanges where it mates to the head)
