930 Deck Height?
I just measured the deck on my 76 930. With the .25 mm base gasket, I get a deck height of .035in or .889 mm. Will this be enough clearance considering I will be using 964 cams that have higher lift than the 930 cams?
Update: I just checked again and and the measurments on all come out to .043-.044 which is a bit more than 1mm so I guess this will be enough. I was taking the measurement in the wrong place before at 12oclock rather than at 3 or 9oclock above the pin. Last edited by schigara; 06-16-2006 at 11:39 AM.. |

The numbers you report should be adequate for 964 cams.
It never hurts to add valve pockets.

To be safe, I'd bolt on a head with a couple of pieces of solder on each side of the piston and turn the engine over. The thickness of the squished solder will be a better measure of you're squish band.
