I just started disconnecting wires and hoses for an engine drop. Then I proceeded on the bottom of the car and I notice that the swaybar may be in the way of the transmission. Do I have to remove the sway bar to drop the engine?

I had to remove it when dropping my engine & tranny together.
If you drop the engine alone, I think you can leave it in.

remove U clamps and loosen the pivot bolts....swing out of the way....you can leave the sway bar attached....

spray all the nuts and bolts with PB blaster and let them soak overnight. Remove the lower bolts (single bolt closest to the ground) first. If you remove the bolts (where the rubber bushings are) when rotate your breaker bar the entire sway bar will pivot towards the ground (the nuts are on very tight). If you happen to do it in reverse (like I did), you can put a piece of 2x4 under the sway bar to keep it from rotating towards the ground. You'll need a breaker bar...hope this makes sense.

Just disconnect the chassis pivot and swing it towards the front of the car... THe tranny will clear it.

Chris is correct...I just did the extra work to get it completely out of the way... this saves using a big breaker bar and torquing with the weight on the tires which is a pain..big wrenches and no room

Less brakes, more gas!

I just removed the whole bar... In the scheme of things its not a big deal. Then you can paint/powdercoat it while you are waiting for parts
