87 930 vacume lines on distributor
I have an '87 930, and I am asking if anyone knows the proper configuration or positions for the vacume lines to the distributor.
There is one red fabric covered vacume line going from the upper side of the throttle body going to a (temperature?) switch back by the breather cover. From there I am not sure where it should go. Then there are 2 more vacume lines coming out of the lower side of the throttle body. The 2 on the bottom are different I believe. I think one is ported above the throttle butterfly at idle and the other is ported below the butterfly at idle. I do not know where these should go either. I have removed the air pump and emissions diverter valves so the vacume lines that went to those from the vacume solenoid(s) are no longer needed. The distributor has 2 vacume connections. I think the one farthest out is for vacume advance and the one closest to the distributor is for vacume retard. I am not sure though and with a turbo these turn into pressure under boost (I think) instead of vacume so I am confused about which lines go where. Also do I need to have one of the vacume solenoids hooked up in the arrangement? I've been told that one of the solenoids gives more vacume advance to the distributor when starting the motor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jim. |

Look inside your deck lid. It should have a vacuum diagram.
