Good idea to take it to someone else. Especially if they are a pelicanite. Is it me or do your first mechanic's comments smore like excuses to get a go ahead for a rebuild than a thourough evaluation. Did he not check for broken studs because he didn't want to get his hands dirty?
Best of luck with your new car, maybe it just need a good "Italian tune up" Art

Art,
I agree with the advice. I am starting to question my PPI mechanic as well and, even though he is listed in the PCA brochure, some of these other comments on this thread make me question why he didn't go in and check the studs, when I specifically asked him to. By the time I got the PPI report the seller had already picked up the car. So, I had to go off of what he said and his expertise over my lack there of. It may need an "Italian tune up" or it may be just what he said, in need of a rebuild. I just can't figure out why it runs so well. The other Pelicans said the same thing. The Pelicans did mention that it has a vaccum leak that needed to be fixed. I don't know how important that is or if it relates to the rebuild or if it is just hoses that need to be replaced. Any more thoughts on the BG 44k method and the symptoms I have mentioned? |

I think you did okay al long as the rest of the car is good. You would hate too get a car that needed engine work suspension paint interior. then you might as well as bought a new boxter!
