timing chains, sprokets replacement??
Ok so I have my engine torn down to the crank and was thinking should I replace all the timing sprokets and chains or just the chains or neither??
The engine was suppose to be low milage(I also did the top end less then 10,000 miles ago) and after tearing it down to the crank I believe it. this thing was clean inside with the exception of some piston rings. the bearings looked great everything looks to be in order. But curious if I should replace everything even if it shows limited wear?? Henry?? Wayne?? of course replacement of bearings is a must but aside from that not sure.. Also side note should I be upgrading the Piston squirters to the turbo style??

I'm not Henry or Wayne but perhaps I can help. ![]() One measures chain & sprocket wear by laying the chain around the cam sprockets and taking note of how much you can move the chain along the axis of travel. It takes some experience to assess this accurately. FWIW, detonation REALLY stresses rods and rod bearings and I would replace the rod bearings and have the rod's big and little ends checked for concentricity. They may need to be resized. If you use the Turbo squirters (recommended for controlling piston crown temps), you need to use the larger volume 930 or GT3R oil pumps.

![]() If I find that the chains have stretched or the sprockets have worn, I replace everything.
