I need an M10x1 fine thread nut for my 3.2L Carrera

Another item that escaped my zip locked bags through a small opening in the bag. I've lost my M10x1 mm nut (fine thread) and washer that goes inside the chain ramp area to help secure the case. It's for my 3.2 L but I assume it's on other cases as well, does anyone have an extra nut and washer for this area?

Best Regards,

Alex

when I was putting together my 3.3 i purchased the metric fastener kit from out sponsor and tossed most of the old fasteners replaced them with new ones. most of these self locking nuts shouldnt be reused they no longer will lock and can come loose. thats why for instance the valve adjustment kits come with new nuts washers and gaskets.

Ken,

I have purchased all new perimeter case nuts and all the valve cover nylock ones as well. But I don't believe that the M10x1 is a nylock, can anyone confirm this? My Bentley manual and Wayne’s engine rebuilding book just call out an M10x1 with a washer, I can't remember what it was. My PET catalog also just specifies the same, I hope someone has one to spare and for sale. I know that McMaster Carr has this bolt in the proper plating but it is a Class 8 in hardness which I believe is equivalent to a Grade 5 bolt, not quite a Grade 8 which I think is what is required. Maybe someone here can confirm if a Grade 5 equivalent will suffice?

Thanks,

Alex

If you want a bunch of 10x1.0 nuts, let me know. I will swing by my supplier tomorrow and pick up as many as you will ever need and mail the out to you. I checked the garage, but I do not have any laying around here.

Cheers

Jeff,

Thank your a good man, I believe that my 3.2L case only requires one (1) unique M10x1 since most M10's are found in the default 1.5 pitch thread. This is a fine thread and I believe I need it in Grade 8 hardness and not Class 8. If's it's not too much bother I'm willing to pay for it plus shipping. Thank you for your time and effort!

Best Regards,

Alex

Alright, a little searching in the garage produced the 5 remaining ones I have. I remember having to source this nut on the last rebuild I did and I remember getting 6. However, I am not sure on the class. I don't think it is as big of a deal being a nut as opposed to a stud or bolt. You are welcome to one or two or however many you would like, just PM or email me your address and I will send them out.

Cheers
