Smile New guy looking for help in SLC

Hello,
First time poster. I just acquired a 1984 911 with a bad engine? It runs but crappy. Not sure if a engine rebuild is required. If required anyone in the Salt Lake City area willing to help with a rebuild? Thanks in advance for any help.

Rick

Rick,
Welcome to our BBS. If you have some experience with engines, my first advice is to get a compression gauge and check your motor out.
The crappy running could be internals or something not as serious.
If the comps for all six cylinders are all within 10% of each other, I would look at ignition wires, rotor, cap, plugs. Then the mass air sensor signal. Head temp sensor and the 2 flywheel sensors.
If you're not familiar with engines, you may want to check aroung SLC for a independent Porsche shop. Get in touch with the local PCA people, they can recommend trustworthy people.
