Machine shops that do case resizing (besides CE)?
I need to get a 2.7 case resized for a friend (it measures out badly). I know Competition Engineering does this but a friend who uses them doesn't seem to get his cases back for a long time (like a year later).
I'm in NH so someplace on the East Coast would be good. Alternatively, if reasonably priced oversized bearings are available these days let me know. (Last I knew they were something crazy like $800 a set.) -Chris

O/S main brgs
Chris, I have a set of 2.7 line bore brgs/ STD crank journals, that I bought and did not need. I will see what I have in them and you are welcome to them for that, Usually they come from Germany and that price seems close. I will be back in the shop 1/2/07

bearings
You got that right ! The price of a good 7 R case is half of what porsche gets for the brgs. it just seems they are never around when I am looking......

Chris,
My Florida machine shop gave up doing cases, so George at Ollie's Machine did my last one. 6 weeks plus shipping. He shaves the halves and line bores using standard bearings. You must use cylinder base shims for proper cam & deck height. I just opened the box today and it looks great! $550 for this operation. Lyn

Hi Chris:
Although we do the vast majority of our machine work in-house, I send any cases needing resizing to Ollie's and they do an EXCELLENT job. Since these are done in batches, turnaround times can be 2-3 weeks and sometimes it can take 6-10 weeks.

Thanks Lyn & Steve. Looks like Ollies is the place I'm looking for.
Their ad in Excellence doesn't say (that I could see) that they did case resizing. Maybe they call it something else in the ad. I normally won't touch a 2.7 but it's for a friend of mine. -Chris

Hi Chris,
I'll send some pix. From the outside, you cannot tell what they can do. If you're ever been there, it's like stepping back in time. Only don't step behind the counter uninvited . George don't like it. They've done head and case work for me. I give them 2 thumbs up.
