Is this crankshaft junk?

I have this SC crank that came with a large inventory of engine parts I recently purchased.

FS - 3.0 SC Crankshaft

I know of a local source that can grind and re-nitride the crank and comes highly recommended by some local Porsche racers. However the repair will cost somewhere around $300-$500 and under-size bearings are at least $1000.

So my question is...Why bother to repair it? Should I make a lamp out of it?

3.0 crank

If you are talking about Armando at CCR he is one of the very few that we send 911 cranks to, He usually repairs and puts them back to std which makes the bearings affordable. but grinding and heat treating then buying oversize bearings makes no sense at all. CCR's ph. # 650 364 1747 tell him Mike at JB Racing sent ya.

Tom,

It might be worth regrinding- there are some race applications that utilize a large journal crank reground to smaller journals to allow you to use a later case. . . Henry has written on this but I would have to have the journal sizes handy to tell you . . .
