Breather restriction ?
Hi all, found this inside the Breather Hose - Air Filter Housing to Oil Reservoir.
Does anybody know if there should be a RESTRICTER inside the hose. It looks like its been fitted to stop the hose collapsing as it was positioned inside the bend of the hose. 1982 911SC Europe 3.0 LTR. Thanks in advance Chris. ![]() |

yes its supposed to be there, I beleive its to reduce the amount of raw oil that could get burped up through the breather to airbox and still allow the case to vent

It also resricts air flow so that the engine will idle w/ the oil filler cap off.
w/o it the engine will stall when the oil cap is removed.

It also acts as a spark arrestor to prevent the ignition of blow-by smoke. The oil smoke can be highly flamable (read explosive).
