2.7L Distributor
Building a 3.0L for my early 911. Question, can I use the 2.7L distributor in the 3.0L?

Try not, Do or Do not

Only by changing the distributor drive gear on the 3.0 crank to match the 2.7 distributor.
The 3.0 distributor turns counter clock wise and the 2.7 turns clock wise.

Kent, NO......The dist on a 3.0 rotates in the opposite direction than the 2.7 engine. The dist drive gear on the 3.0 is the problem, that would have to be replaced with an early type drive gear like your 2.7 or 2.4, 2.2 etc.. before you could drop in the 2.7 dist. Find a good 3.0 dist. Hope this helps.

I was wondering the same sort of thing, I wondering if I could use a 3.0 dizzy on my 3.2, but even if I were to switch the crank , and distributor gears, woudnt the advance mechanism now be retarding the timing???

If the drive gear on the crank is compatible with the distributor the SC distributor will work in a 3.2.
It would be advisable to recurve the distributor to suit the engine for which in is intended.
