PLease help Decipher this engine #
Hi: just purchased a heavily reworked "76 Targa
Engine # is 646 1835 My best attempts at breaking this # down are 6 = 6 cyl 911 4 = This is the mystery number for me 6 = 1976 1835 = Sequential # Any help on the mystery number will be greatly appreciated |

Serial number 646 1835 is listed as a 1976 911S, type 911/82, 165HP, CIS injected, USA version 2.7L. I'm not sure if the engine serial number are descriptive, like the VIN numbers, so i can't help with the mystery number 4.
