piston/cylinder clearance
i am checking the tolerances on my 72 E 2.4 L p+c's .
is there a correct way to do this? top or bottom? does piston orientation make a difference? waynes book specifies 0.046mm, that's .0018 "as a max! (and nothing like the GM rebuild i recently did!) a quick check with feelers was no go at 0.003" i'm planning a stock rebuild. how close to this do i have to be? new p+c's are not in the budget ($3k+ if you can find them!) thanks , bob |

Bob
Check this posting on piston to cylinder clearance limits and how to measure. Can these pistons be re-used?
