I sure love clean, shiny parts....
Got some goodies back from the platers today. It started with wanting my fuel rails to look better, and ended up with much of the intake clamps, etc.

Ed, that is very nice looking. Zinc plate with a yellow chromate conversion?

Thanks John. I think it's Cadmium....this is Texas after all. Actually, that is what I requested and what the invoicing says.

fresh gold cad plating is pretty stuff.
i like the reflective rainbowlike colors you get in it too. the guys that do it live in a very toxic work environment... |

A company in Garland-the name escapes me! I'm out of town, but if you remind me on Monday when I'm back, I'll post their info.

Just curious as to what is the best way to bring back the finish on these products without sending them out? Is this even an option, other than just cleaning them up?

I don't know for sure, but don't use steel wool! I tried removing that factory tar ugliness from my '74's OE front shock mount plates, and it scrubbed the plating right off.

Eastwood sells some multi-part "plating immitation" kits, but for the $120 my lot of parts cost to plate, it isn't worth messing with.
