References for Weber Rebuilds
Im in the process of searching out all the Weber Throttle shaft repair shops.. Can you chime in on the ones you know of and a way to contact them..I've heard of Bieker as being VERY good and reputable but a little pricey.. What others are out there?
Thanks

I'm not sure of your situation but when I did the shafts of my Alfa with DCO3's the majority of the wear was on the shaft itself. I replaced the shafts and with the 1400 cc pistons, 77mm mondials the car would scream and idle. The DC03 did not have bushings for the shafts in the body like the later DCOE's, at least I think they did. I can't remember if the IDA's are bushed or not. From this link it looks like oversized shafts and rebored bodies are the fix. Please don't shoot me for posting a mm link, I'm only the piano player. Looks like good info on webers.

Personally I wouldn't even ship my ex wife to them for anything. Come to think of it that might be the perfect place to send her. I just thought the info on that page might be of some help.

Want to keep this post going...
I've talked to Beiker and Im SURE he can do the Carbs Perfectly! But.. $800 + is a steep bill. Surely there are others that can do throttle shaft repair correctly and more affordably.. ????

Highly recommend Beiker. He did mine ten years ago and they are still excellent. It was about 800.00 back then too.

Who is Beiker, and how can I contact him? I have some 40 IDA's that need attention.

I had my hardware cad plated first and with that and the kit plus the labor, total cost was about that or more. Have you asked if that includes new hardware too?
Regards,

How much wear are we talking about? Have you had the shafts out and looked at the wear? Can you feel the slop in the shafts with the linkage unhooked. Are the bores worn or the shafts or both? I would think the majority of the wear would be on #1 and #4 since the linkage is on that end.

Not sure about Howmuch wear, but the 4-6 side is showing its wear. Where the linkage fits up to the carb body you can see it bounce up and down at idle. And they are having a hard time coming off of idle.

Mr. Bieker probably has forgot more than we collectively know regarding Porsche fuel delivery, and all other things air cooled.
Please keep in mind that Mr. Bieker now takes a really long time to perform work, so you may have to wait a bit. Pat
